New Showbiz Analysis

Who Am I (2015) operates primarily as a kinetic genre thriller focused on suspense and plot mechanics. While it offers meaningful representation through its East Asian setting and cast, the narrative lacks deep multi-layered layers. The film succeeds in providing a proactive female character, but the core structure remains a traditional male-centric survival story. Disability is used as a convenient plot device rather than a nuanced exploration of identity. Ultimately, the film prioritizes individual ability to act and high-stakes action over systemic social critique or the deconstruction of social hierarchies.
