The film excels by centering underrepresented identities, particularly through its empowering portrayal of queer expression and the subversion of traditional masculinity. It moves beyond simple inclusion to actively celebrate non-conformity within a working-class context. While the film offers a nuanced critique of social hierarchies, the racial and ethnic diversity serves more as a backdrop than a primary focus. The narrative engine is driven by identity-based struggles, providing an multi-layered view. Overall, the work succeeds by framing the protagonist's journey through a lens of empowerment. It effectively challenges established social norms by prioritizing individual authenticity over traditionalist pressures.
