Oldboys is a character-driven Nordic road movie that emphasizes regional realism and age-based social dynamics. The story follows a middle-aged man and a young offender, focusing on their individual journeys and the tension between different generations. While the film delves into nuanced themes of aging and social isolation, it lacks depth in representing diverse identities. The narrative structure adheres to traditional social groupings and does not actively challenge established norms. Ultimately, the film functions as a classic 'odd couple' drama, offering a study of companionship and social reintegration. However, it falls short in providing diverse representation.

Official Synopsis
Now in his fifties, Vagn leads a solitary life and plays football with a group of similarly aged men, some even older. After being left behind at a petrol station by his teammates on their way to a match in Sweden, he encounters a young habitual offender and together they set off in hot pursuit of Vagn's buddies. A Nordic road movie taking in a whole series of comic, serious and, above all, well-written scenarios.
