The Monkey King 2 emphasizes mythological accuracy over contemporary diversity. It relies on traditional archetypes and a hierarchical structure of gods and demons. The film's strength lies in its distinctive cultural perspective, offering a non-Western mythological framework that challenges Anglo-Saxon fantasy conventions. However, it does not address modern social issues, maintaining traditional gender roles and not including diverse identities.
