Synopsis

Trying to recover from the nearly marriage-breaking stress following the death of their child, Jack (Reynaldo Rosales) and Stephanie (Heidi Dippold) spontaneously take off on a road trip. But when their car breaks down in a remote area, they find themselves in a horrific nightmare. Seeking shelter in a house, they soon realize that more danger lurks inside than outside in this spine-chiller based on Ted Dekker and Frank Peretti's best-seller.

AI Analysis

House functions as a standard genre piece that prioritizes established horror tropes over the subversion of social hierarchies. The narrative architecture focuses on a traditional marital unit navigating grief and survival, which limits the scope for intersectional storytelling. The film's reliance on source material from authors associated with Christian speculative fiction suggests a narrative centered on conventional moral structures. This focus on traditional values and spiritual struggle results in a lack of progressive social deconstruction. Ultimately, the film lacks visible diversity in terms of race, gender roles, and identity, leaning instead into a homogeneous and traditional framework.
