AI Analysis

Derby Dogs is a conventional family drama that adheres strictly to established genre tropes. The narrative centers on a young boy's personal journey to honor his deceased father through a trolley derby. While the film explores themes of grief and autonomy, it lacks the intentionality needed to disrupt social expectations. It prioritizes a meritocratic journey over the exploration of intersectional identities or systemic power dynamics. Ultimately, the film functions as a standard coming-of-age story that stays within traditional social and familial frameworks.
