Spede Pasanen’s comedy prioritizes absurdist, slapstick-driven humor over sociopolitical commentary. The film adheres to the traditional comedic frameworks of its era, focusing on broad, populist entertainment rather than challenging systemic issues. The narrative revolves around the antics of two brothers and a deceitful doctor. It maintains conventional demographic and gendered clichés, lacking any engagement with queer identity or diverse racial representation. Ultimately, the film serves as a localized entertainment piece. It avoids ideological agendas, focusing instead on situational chaos and regional comedic clichés common to mid-80s Finnish cinema.
Category Breakdown
The film emphasizes brotherly bonds and humorous interactions between male characters. It does not include any non-straight or non-cisgender identities or critiques of the assumption that everyone is straight or cisgender.
The story relies on traditional 1980s female archetypes, featuring a 'Miss Universe' type character. Women appear primarily as decorative elements rather than characters with significant influence over the plot.
The cast and setting are predominantly Finnish, reflecting a local production. The film explores Karelian heritage but maintains a largely uniform demographic profile.
The story employs absurdist, non-serious storytelling that avoids religious or moralistic themes. It functions as a commercial comedy without critiquing Western institutions.
Medical misunderstandings and a comedic robot serve as catalysts for humor. These elements do not offer meaningful representations of neurodivergence or physical disabilities.

Official Synopsis
Two brothers from Häme discover that they are actually from Karelia. During the celebration of the newfound fact, one of the brothers is bitten by a bug. After seeking medical help from a doctor - who tries to tell the brothers that he is not a doctor of medicine - the doctor decides to trick the boys by convincing them that the insect in question is called Insectum propellatum, also known as the aviation bug, and unless the affected brother learns how to fly, the bite might turn fatal. During their shenanigans, they become acquainted with a robot that runs on booze, two scoundrels, and the beautiful Miss Universe!
