New Showbiz Analysis

Thugs of Hindostan successfully reimagines historical resistance through a non-Western perspective, emphasizing indigenous ability to act against an imperialist adversary. Its main strength lies in its use of historical settings to critique Western institutions while elevating local autonomy. However, the film's impact is somewhat limited by a lack of diverse representation, particularly in terms of LGBTQ+ characters and disability narratives. Despite offering a fresh take on historical power dynamics, it still adheres to some traditional character archetypes. Overall, the film provides a significant example of using large-scale action to challenge Western dominance.
