New Showbiz Analysis

A Decent Proposal operates as a standard genre piece that adheres to traditional storytelling structures. While it avoids passive female clichés by giving Tia a proactive role, the film remains limited by its narrow demographic focus. The narrative lacks multi-layered complexity, relying instead on a conventional framework of domestic stakes and systemic power struggles. It functions primarily as a mid-2000s mystery-thriller without attempting to challenge social norms or provide diverse perspectives. Ultimately, the film's reliance on a homogeneous cast and a straight-centered plot prevents it from achieving a more progressive score.
