The film functions as a conventional period piece that prioritizes historical accuracy over disrupting social norms. It succeeds in centering female perspectives and exploring class-based empathy through its main characters. However, the narrative structure reinforces rather than challenges the established hierarchies of the early 1900s. It lacks the complexity and diverse casting needed for a more progressive approach. Ultimately, the film remains a traditional drama that works within the social frameworks of its setting rather than trying to change them.
