Franco Lolli's drama succeeds by breaking down traditional power structures. It excels in showing the friction between socioeconomic classes and subverting gendered authority through Maria Isabel's actions. However, the film's impact is limited by its narrow demographic focus. The lack of racial diversity and the absence of disability representation make it feel specific to a particular European social context. Ultimately, the film is a study of class and identity that emphasizes social realism over broad representation.
