Wiped-Out Footprints is a contemplative drama that prioritizes themes of displacement and memory over identity politics. It uses the physical drowning of a village to explore the erosion of history and cultural landscapes. The film successfully portrays the immigrant experience and the emotional weight of losing one's ancestral home. It provides a nuanced look at how environmental changes deconstruct established social structures. However, the film operates within a traditional framework. It lacks diversity in sexual orientation and racial blending, focusing instead on a relatively homogeneous demographic and straight-centered romantic arcs.
