Fair

Ava Boone serves as a female protagonist navigating a high-stakes survival scenario. By centering her perspective in a thriller genre, the film disrupts conventional gendered expectations of the protector role.

Racial & Ethnic Diversity

Fair

  • Avoids traditional tropes of passive female characters.

Areas for Improvement

  • Provides no documented evidence of disability representation.
  • Unclear if racial diversity in the cast translates to meaningful character agency.

AI Analysis

Before the Fire is a character-driven study of survival and trauma. It finds its strength in centering female agency, positioning Ava Boone as the primary driver of the plot rather than a passive observer. While the film explores the collapse of social and institutional norms, it lacks significant intersectional depth. The narrative appears to focus on individual psychological vulnerabilities rather than a broad spectrum of diverse identities. Ultimately, the film succeeds as a genre piece that subverts traditional gender roles, even if it remains limited in its representation of queer identities and disability.
