Seven families live in the Parisian apartment building at 8, Rue de l’Humanite - and they didn’t escape to the countryside at the arrival of the coronavirus. Three months of life under lockdown will reveal the best and worst of these neighbours.

Where to Watch

Diversity & Representation

Overall Score

5.1/10

Fair

Category Breakdown

LGBTQ+ Representation

Fair

The film includes queer identities within its ensemble, but these elements remain incidental. The narrative focuses on domestic tensions rather than centering or exploring non-cisnormative identities.

Gender Representation

Fair

Female characters are used to highlight the mental load and social frustrations of confinement. While providing agency within the domestic sphere, the film maintains relatively conventional character roles.

Racial & Ethnic Diversity

Good

The production excels by mirroring the multicultural demographic of modern Paris. This organic integration avoids the homogeneity often seen in traditional depictions of French life.

Religious & Cultural Diversity

Fair

The story uses moral relativism to frame character irritability and rule-breaking as natural responses to lockdown. It offers a subtle critique of state authority through these frustrations.

Disability Representation

Limited

There is limited evidence of meaningful representation for physical or invisible disabilities. Characters are defined by socioeconomic status and family roles rather than neurodivergence.

Strengths

  • Provides a realistic, multicultural reflection of modern Parisian urban life.
  • Effectively portrays the mental load and domestic agency of female characters.
  • Uses a confined setting to explore complex human behaviors under systemic pressure.

Areas for Improvement

  • Lacks meaningful or visible representation of physical or neurodivergent disabilities.
  • LGBTQ+ identities are incidental rather than central to the narrative exploration.
  • Maintains conventional gender roles without radical subversion of leadership or intellect.

AI Analysis

Stuck Together functions as a sociological snapshot of Parisian life during the COVID-19 lockdowns. Its primary strength lies in its realistic, multicultural ensemble that reflects the actual ethnic tapestry of an urban neighborhood. This organic approach avoids a monolithic view of French society. However, the film lacks depth in intersectional representation. While it captures the friction of diverse identities, it does not deeply explore LGBTQ+ narratives or disability. These elements feel secondary to the central plot of domestic tension. Ultimately, the film succeeds as a mid-range representation. It effectively uses the confined setting of an apartment building to showcase the complexities of human behavior under systemic pressure, even if it misses opportunities for more radical social subversion.
