Mad Love is a study of individualist expressionism that prioritizes the breakdown of the self over social identity politics. It successfully challenges traditional gender hierarchies through its central female protagonist. However, the film lacks diversity in both gender and race, and does not engage with multi-layered identities. The strength of the film lies in its focus on psychological fragmentation rather than social representation.
