AI Analysis
Stella is a gritty character study that prioritizes psychological realism over demographic breadth. It succeeds in subverting traditional gender roles and rejecting idealized family structures, offering a non-traditional look at motherhood. However, the film lacks intersectional complexity. The narrative remains centered on a specific socioeconomic and racial demographic, offering very little representation for LGBTQ+ or non-white communities. Ultimately, the film's strength lies in its refusal to use disability or maternal roles as moral tools, though it remains a relatively homogeneous production.
