Synopsis

Charly is the editor in chief of a fashion magazine. When her father dies, she inherits the family business: a butchery. Not exactly her passion in life... She’s about to sell it when Mar- tial, who worked for her father, wants to take it over, but she is having second thoughts. These two opposite characters will have to get used to one another.

Category Breakdown

LGBTQ+ Representation

Fair

The film follows a traditional romantic trajectory between Charly and Martial. There is no explicit evidence of queer narratives or non-heteronormative identities present in the story.

Gender Representation

Good

Charly disrupts gendered expectations by managing a traditionally masculine-coded butchery. Her struggle to balance fashion journalism with blue-collar labor explores themes of female agency and professional identity.

Racial & Ethnic Diversity

Limited

The narrative lacks evidence of a diverse or non-Anglo-Saxon majority cast. The focus on a specific family business suggests a potentially homogeneous character ensemble.

Religious & Cultural Diversity

Fair

The story examines the friction between urban professional life and traditional blue-collar industries. It deconstructs inherited legacy through the protagonist's questioning of her family's vocational roles.

Disability Representation

Minimal

There is no information regarding characters with visible or invisible disabilities within the film's context.

Strengths

  • Subverts gendered labor roles by placing a female protagonist in a traditionally masculine industry.
  • Explores nuanced themes of female agency and professional identity through character development.

Areas for Improvement

  • Lacks evidence of racial or ethnic diversity within the character ensemble.
  • Provides no explicit representation of LGBTQ+ identities or queer narratives.
  • Fails to include characters with visible or invisible disabilities.

AI Analysis

The film functions primarily as a character study centered on gendered professional displacement. While it successfully subverts traditional labor roles by placing a woman in a rugged industry, it remains limited by a narrow demographic scope. The narrative relies on conventional romantic comedy tropes, which limits its intersectional depth. The central conflict is driven by personal inheritance and class friction rather than broader social or cultural diversity. Ultimately, the work offers meaningful engagement with gendered expectations but lacks the diverse casting or queer representation necessary to achieve a more progressive score.
