American professor Robert Traum embarks on an adventurous and amusing journey through Bucovina to find Sami the projectionist, the only person alive that can tell him anything about his Romanian Jewish descent. His symbolic journey is filled with danger, the unknown and the surreal, but finally rewarded with a double love: on the one hand he finds romantic love, on the other the passion for old cinema, nomad, popular, naive and generous.

Category Breakdown
LGBTQ+ Representation
The film explores romantic love, but the gender or orientation of the romantic interest remains unspecified. There is no evidence of non-cisnormative identities present.
Gender Representation
The story centers on a male protagonist's journey. However, the emphasis on romantic love and emotional passion suggests a departure from traditional, stoic masculine archetypes.
Racial & Ethnic Diversity
The film provides high agency for a character of Romanian Jewish descent. Centering the plot on reclaiming ethnic identity disrupts homogeneous historical narratives through this central journey.
Religious & Cultural Diversity
The narrative challenges Western-centric perspectives by focusing on the localized complexities of Romanian Jewish heritage. Surreal elements suggest a move toward subjective, non-traditionalist storytelling.
Disability Representation
There is no information available regarding the depiction of physical disabilities or neurodivergence within the work.

AI Analysis
The film distinguishes itself through a narrative architecture centered on the reclamation of Romanian Jewish identity. By making the protagonist's ancestral quest the driving force, the story elevates a specific minority heritage to the core of the cinematic experience. While the film excels in ethnic and cultural representation, it remains neutral in other categories. The lack of specific details regarding LGBTQ+ identities or disability representation prevents a more comprehensive diversity profile. Ultimately, the work functions as a meaningful exploration of diaspora and historical reclamation, using a surreal journey to move beyond standard biographical drama tropes.
