Bahram Beyzai’s *Travelers* is a sophisticated work of regional cinema that asserts a distinct cultural identity. It succeeds by centering a non-Western perspective and exploring the internal psychological journey of its female characters within a complex ritualistic setting. However, the film lacks explicit representation regarding LGBTQ+ identities or specific disabilities. The narrative remains confined to traditional social structures and the psychological impact of tragedy. Ultimately, the film's strength lies in its cultural autonomy and its ability to challenge Western cinematic conventions through its unique focus on Iranian customs and mourning rituals.
