New Showbiz Analysis

Dark Awakening follows standard horror-thriller clichés, focusing on a traditional domestic unit. The narrative structure prioritizes established social hierarchies and conventional Western institutions rather than challenging them. The film lacks complexity in its portrayal of multiple aspects of identity, relying on a patriarchal protagonist and religious authority to drive the plot. This results in a narrow scope that avoids diverse perspectives. Ultimately, the movie operates within a culturally homogeneous and traditional framework, offering little in the way of social subversion or varied identity exploration.
