New Showbiz Analysis

This video-based instructional guide primarily serves as a historical artifact reflecting late-90s technological anxieties. It prioritizes practical survival skills over storytelling that explores diverse identities, resulting in a narrow social focus. The film relies heavily on traditional clichés, centering a single rugged male character. This approach avoids challenging social hierarchies, reinforcing individualistic survival paradigms common in late-90s independent media. Overall, the work lacks the narrative depth needed to explore diverse identities, focusing instead on the immediate fear of technological collapse.

Official Synopsis

Shot on video' "how to" guide on surviving the infrastructure meltdown that was speculated would happen on New Year's Eve 1999. It's paranoia from the late 1990's! It opens with a new year's eve party, and the ominous words of a partygoer, but then the phone and power cut out(!) and a suntanned rustic gentleman suddenly appears in a cavelike room, seated by an oil lamp, and adorned in brown. The room as well.
