Racial & Ethnic Diversity

Limited

Areas for Improvement

  • The narrative fails to critique systemic or cultural frameworks, sticking to conventional Western storytelling structures.

AI Analysis

Tourists functions as a traditional survival thriller that centers on female endurance. By placing women in roles of agency during high-stakes scenarios, the film moves away from traditional masculine protector tropes. However, the film remains limited by a homogeneous Western perspective. The casting leans heavily on Western travelers, which prevents the narrative from breaking away from standard travel tropes or achieving significant intersectional depth. Ultimately, the film prioritizes genre-standard tension over the subversion of social or cultural hierarchies. It lacks representation for LGBTQ+ identities and disability, resulting in a narrow demographic focus.
