The Crossing operates as a conventional psychological thriller that emphasizes suspense and familial trauma over diverse representation. The narrative follows a standard dramatic arc centered on a mystery, without many markers of identity-driven storytelling. While the film explores the psychological depth of its female characters, it remains grounded in a traditional Western framework. The focus is on individual trauma rather than broader systemic or cultural critiques. Ultimately, the film lacks significant diversity, adhering to established demographic norms for its genre and setting.
