The film excels as a sophisticated social commentary that transforms a coming-of-age story into a critique of systemic power. By intertwining Manena's personal journey with the Mapuche struggle, the narrative avoids simplistic domestic clichés. Its primary strength lies in its intentional focus on ethnic and cultural representation. The contrast between wealthy landowners and indigenous rights provides a deep look at class and land ownership. However, the film's exploration of identity remains somewhat limited. While it centers women's ability to drive the story and ethnic conflict, it offers little specific evidence regarding LGBTQ+ or disability representation.
