Chor Machaaye Shor is a classic masala comedy that prioritizes entertaining escapism over social commentary. The narrative leans heavily on established clichés such as mistaken identity and romantic pursuit to uphold conventional social expectations. While the film showcases a diverse South Asian cast, it lacks depth in representing multiple aspects of identity. It functions as a traditional work that upholds existing social hierarchies rather than challenging them. The film’s emphasis on high-energy commercial appeal leaves little room for the representation of underrepresented groups or the subversion of patriarchal norms.
