Death Knot stands out by focusing on a non-Western cultural backdrop, using the conflict between local superstition and modern psychology to drive its horror narrative. This approach highlights ethnic identity and the preservation of cultural traditions. While the film effectively addresses cultural and racial dynamics, it remains neutral on LGBTQ+ representation and offers limited engagement with gender and disability issues. The focus on psychological trauma provides a platform for discussing mental health, although specific character roles in these areas are not fully developed. Overall, the film's strength lies in its ability to challenge Western rationalism by presenting communal beliefs as a systemic force rather than a simple antagonist.
