Racial & Ethnic Diversity

Strengths

  • A deep, agency-driven exploration of neurodivergence through the character of Kevin Wendell Crumb.
  • A critique of systemic institutions that fail to validate non-conforming identities.

Areas for Improvement

  • Gender diversity is low, with female characters relegated to secondary, institutional roles.
  • The narrative adheres to a traditional patriarchal structure centered on male protagonists.

AI Analysis

Glass succeeds as a genre deconstruction by centering Black protagonists and providing a high degree of agency to characters with neurodivergent identities. These elements disrupt standard superhero tropes and offer a more nuanced exploration of identity. However, the film is limited by a strictly patriarchal framework. The lack of LGBTQ+ representation and the relegation of female characters to institutional roles create a narrow demographic scope. Ultimately, the film's strength lies in its challenge to systemic authority and its focus on subjective truth, even while remaining socially conservative in its gender dynamics.
