New Showbiz Analysis

Smothered offers a compelling departure from Western-centric storytelling by grounding its mystery in Indonesian folklore. The narrative uses psychological tension to challenge established social norms regarding family and maternal roles. While the film provides a nuanced look at neurodivergence, it remains silent on LGBTQ+ identities.
