Nick Fury: Agent of S.H.I.E.L.D. is a product of its time, emphasizing traditional espionage clichés over the deconstruction of social hierarchies. The film sticks to conventional narrative structures that favor traditional archetypes. While Viper's role as a strong female antagonist offers some ability to act, it remains tied to the 'vicious villain' cliché, preventing the film from fully subverting masculine authority. Overall, the film lacks complexity in representing multiple aspects of identity. It functions as a standard Western-centric thriller that upholds institutional norms rather than challenging them.
