Vares: The Path of the Righteous Men follows a traditional crime procedural format within the Nordic Noir genre. The story centers on male-driven action, focusing on a private investigator's investigation of local criminal activities. While the film critically examines religious corruption and systemic scams, it lacks multi-layered complexity. The narrative structure relies on conventional formulas, such as women being portrayed mainly as victims rather than active participants. Overall, the film reflects a homogeneous setting without making intentional efforts to challenge social hierarchies or include diverse casting.
