New Showbiz Analysis

A Sprinkle of Christmas follows a traditional romantic comedy structure, prioritizing genre clichés over social subversion. While the film offers a capable female lead, it lacks depth in characters who reflect more than one aspect of diversity. The narrative relies on established Western holiday aesthetics and conventional romantic arcs, providing a familiar experience but missing opportunities to engage with diverse identities or complex social perspectives. Ultimately, the film functions as a standard seasonal piece, succeeding in portraying professional women's ability to drive the story but remaining limited by a lack of racial, cultural, or queer diversity.

Libby, an up-and-coming baker, has opened up her storefront business just in time for the Christmas season. Trying to get everything off the ground, she finds herself in a heated anonymous online feud with Peter, an A-List actor, after (hiding his real identity) he gives the bakery a scathing review. At the same time, in real life, Libby takes on a game-changing side-gig: catering cake and confections for Peter’s brother’s high profile holiday engagement party. Neither realize they’re already in a fight with each other.
