The narrative relies on established genre conventions, focusing on a multi-generational bond between a child and her widowed grandfather. The film adheres to traditional Western archetypes, reinforcing standard family structures and seasonal iconography. It avoids deconstructing social hierarchies or exploring intersectional identities, opting instead for a comfortable, high-concept tale of magic and cohesion.
