In November 1918, a few days before the Armistice, when Lieutenant Pradelle orders a senseless attack, he causes a useless disaster; but his outrageous act also binds the lives of two soldiers who have nothing more in common than the battlefield: Édouard saves Albert, although at a high cost. They become companions in misfortune who will attempt to survive in a changing world. Pradelle, in his own way, does the same.

The story centers on the intense emotional bond between Édouard and Albert. However, it lacks explicit depictions of queer identities or romantic arcs, sticking to traditional period-drama dynamics.
Gender Representation
The narrative is heavily anchored in the masculine experience of war. While it critiques incompetent male leadership, the primary agency remains with male characters and the soldier archetype.
Racial & Ethnic Diversity
Set in 1918 France, the film reflects the homogeneous demographics of the era's military. It lacks significant intersectional breadth or diverse casting elements.
Religious & Cultural Diversity
The film offers a strong critique of Western institutions and patriotic duty. It favors individual survival and unconventional bonds over loyalty to failing societal structures.
Disability Representation

AI Analysis
See You Up There is a period drama that prioritizes a critique of systemic incompetence over demographic variety. Its strength lies in deconstructing the traditional military hierarchy and the senselessness of war-driven destruction. However, the film is limited by its historical setting and a heavy focus on male-centric narratives. The lack of intersectional breadth and explicit representation of non-heteronormative identities keeps the diversity score relatively low. Ultimately, the film functions as a study of individual survival in a changing world, favoring moral relativism over institutional or diverse social representation.
