American Eid focuses on the immigrant experience through the lens of ability to act rather than passive displacement. By emphasizing Ameena's mission to institutionalize a religious holiday, the film challenges the expectation of assimilation. The narrative disrupts Western institutional norms by advocating for a pluralistic integration. It moves the immigrant story away from simple struggle toward a proactive negotiation of cultural space. While the film excels in ethnic and cultural specificity, it lacks visible representation for LGBTQ+ identities or disabilities, resulting in a balanced but specialized diversity profile.
