New Showbiz Analysis

Wen Zhang’s romantic comedy adheres closely to conventional narrative expectations. While it avoids rigid moral structures, it does not actively seek to disrupt established social or identity hierarchies. The film provides a nuanced character study, particularly through the female lead's journey with marriage and divorce. However, the film remains culturally homogeneous and follows a traditional straight-centered path. It lacks representation for LGBTQ+ identities and disability, keeping the scope limited to mainstream romantic realism.
