Qatl is a traditional 1980s thriller that adheres to established social and narrative conventions. It emphasizes suspense and interpersonal drama over subverting social hierarchies or multi-layered complexity. The film's strengths include its central characterization and the unique narrative tension created by the protagonist's blindness. However, it relies heavily on dated clichés regarding female infidelity and maintains a strictly straight-centered perspective. Ultimately, the film reflects the cultural norms of its time, offering a specific cultural experience that lacks broad diversity in gender or identity representation.
