Wild Hearts operates as a conventional genre drama that leans heavily on established clichés of rural Americana. The narrative structure prioritizes traditional authority figures and classic Western conflicts, such as the struggle against developers and nature. Representation is limited, focusing on a narrow, homogeneous social framework. It lacks engagement with the way different parts of someone's identity overlap, opting instead for a predictable social order centered on a male protagonist. Ultimately, the film functions as a standard character study within a traditional setting, offering little disruption to conventional social hierarchies or diverse perspectives.
