The Scenesters presents a moderate approach to diversity by focusing on a specific regional identity and critiquing traditional authority figures. Its strengths lie in its localized setting and character-driven cynicism, rather than in-depth characters who reflect more than one aspect of diversity. While it avoids the pitfalls of conventional institutional narratives, it lacks explicit LGBTQ+ and disability representation. The film prioritizes a niche, independent crime-comedy atmosphere over broad demographic inclusion.

Official Synopsis
Someone is killing beautiful young Hipsters in East L.A. Charlie is a crime scene cleaner working for Aftershocks Inc. with a penchant for Sherlock Holmes type deduction. Wallace is an out-of-luck filmmaker working as a crime scene videographer. The detectives covering the murders are apathetic at best but with good names (Henry and Carlita, particularly Carlita). Good names, bad attitudes.
