Marek is a failed basketball coach whose disabled son dreams of participating in the Paralympics in Rio. Unable to field a team of disabled athletes, Marek resorts to fraud and, under the influence of a slightly crazy neighbor, hires able-bodied basketball players to fake their disabilities. Together with his unsuspecting wife, he and his "dream team" set off for Rio, and it is only under the hot Brazilian sun that Marek realizes how karma is catching up with him and that even the best sporting performance may not be enough to escape it. The film Dream Team is not only full of crazy comic situations, but also tells the story of personal honor and the power of parental love.

Category Breakdown
LGBTQ+ Representation
The film lacks explicit LGBTQ+ characters or themes of non-heteronormative identity. The central conflict focuses on familial bonds between a father and son.
Gender Representation
Narrative agency is driven primarily by masculine archetypes like the failed coach and quirky neighbor. The wife occupies a traditional, unsuspecting domestic role.
Racial & Ethnic Diversity
The production reflects a largely homogeneous European demographic. While the setting moves to Brazil, the cast appears to prioritize local Czech social dynamics.
Religious & Cultural Diversity
The story deconstructs institutional integrity by centering on fraud and moral relativism. It finds value in social outsiders and those operating on the fringes.
Disability Representation
Disability serves as both a central motivation and a controversial plot device. The film explores the ethics of able-bodied players faking impairments for competition.

AI Analysis
Dream Team is a character-driven comedy that prioritizes moral ambiguity over demographic variety. While the film lacks significant LGBTQ+ or racial diversity, it finds its strength in challenging institutional norms and the ethics of representation. The narrative uses disability as a complex catalyst for deception, creating a tension between meaningful character motivation and the use of impairment as a comedic tool. This approach offers a sophisticated, if uncomfortable, look at social categorization. Ultimately, the film leans on traditional demographic structures but gains progressive merit through its critique of systemic rules and its focus on social outsiders.
