The film shifts the horror focus from external monsters to the internal complexities of female-driven survival and generational trauma. By centering the plot on the relationship between a woman and her grandmother, the film avoids traditional male-centric protection clichés. While the film effectively uses dementia as a functional narrative element, it lacks specific information about racial or LGBTQ+ representation. This leaves the film's demographic breadth largely unexplored. Ultimately, the film's strength lies in its deconstruction of the traditional family unit, treating the domestic sphere as a source of psychological instability rather than safety.
