AI Analysis

The film operates as a traditionalist adventure spectacle that prioritizes high-stakes heroism over social subversion. While it makes strides in gender agency through Evelyn O'Connell, the narrative structure remains anchored in established Hollywood conventions. Diversity is bolstered by the inclusion of international talent like Jet Li and a shift toward East Asian mythology. However, these elements are framed through a Western lens, where foreign landscapes and mysticism serve as backdrops for Anglo-Saxon protagonists. Ultimately, the film reinforces heteronormative stability and Western-centric power dynamics. It seeks to provide familiar, high-spectacle entertainment rather than deconstructing cultural norms or social hierarchies.
