Synopsis

This documentary feature pulls back the curtain on the world of ‘working class’ rappers. The film spotlights independent artists struggling to find a balance between making a living and pursuing their art alongside the never-ending saga of age and relevance. Weaved together through a series of 30 plus interviews that are devoid of the ego so common in the business of music, especially hip-hop, the film traverses the country (USA) to explore the myths and misconceptions of life as a full-time rapper.

AI Analysis

Adult Rappers serves primarily as a socioeconomic study of the independent hip-hop subculture. It succeeds in deconstructing industry myths by centering the friction between individual artistry and systemic economic pressures. While the film lacks explicit focus on identity politics or disability, it offers a grounded look at the working-class experience. Its strength lies in its potential to disrupt the polished, high-capitalism imagery often associated with the music industry. Ultimately, the documentary prioritizes lived economic reality over mainstream stardom, providing a platform for artists navigating the struggle for relevance and survival.
