The film presents a mixed approach to representation, successfully challenging traditional gender roles while relying on problematic horror clichés. By centering a female protagonist who drives the survivalist conflict, the film moves away from traditional domesticity and masculine-led action. However, the narrative's use of 'deformity' as a source of tension is a significant drawback. Using biological differences as a symbol of horror often reinforces harmful stigmas related to disability. Ultimately, while the film critiques institutional ethics and challenges social structures, it remains tied to traditional clichés that limit its progressive potential.
