New Showbiz Analysis

Woken is a character-driven science fiction thriller centered around a female protagonist navigating a post-apocalyptic world. The film successfully places a woman in a position of power, tasked with uncovering systemic truths amid societal collapse. However, the narrative's reliance on traditional biological roles, such as pregnancy and family life, creates a tension with its themes of empowerment. Additionally, the inclusion of disfigured characters risks using physical differences as mere plot devices for violence. Overall, the film explores the fragility of identity and the breakdown of social structures, but it lacks diverse racial and LGBTQ+ representation to achieve a higher score.
