AI Analysis

Semper Fi succeeds by placing a transgender protagonist at the center of a high-stakes military drama. This choice subverts traditional genre expectations and provides a nuanced look at queer existence within conservative institutions. The film's strength lies in its intersectional approach to masculinity. By exploring how the protagonist navigates his identity alongside his service, the narrative challenges rigid gendered performances. However, the film lacks a clear emphasis on racial diversity or visible physical disability. The focus remains tightly locked on gender identity and the psychological complexities of veteran life.
