The Allins is a documentary study of counter-cultural transgression. It succeeds by validating a lifestyle and family history that exists entirely outside traditional Western social institutions and moral hierarchies. While the film achieves high cultural subversion, it lacks breadth in racial and LGBTQ+ identity representation. The focus remains tightly bound to a specific, localized subculture. Ultimately, the film prioritizes the exploration of an unconventional personal history over a diverse or multi-layered cast.
