This 1922 short functions as a preservation of traditional folklore rather than a disruption of social norms. The narrative architecture relies heavily on established hierarchies and romantic resolutions typical of the era. The film lacks intentionality regarding the inclusion of underrepresented identities or the subversion of systemic power dynamics. It remains firmly within a traditionalist spectrum of early animation. Ultimately, the story serves as a moralistic fable centered on domesticity and destiny, offering little in the way of modern characters who reflect more than one aspect of diversity.
