Every summer, 10-year-old Dune goes with her parents to the south-west coast of France, where she meets her best friend Mathilde. Together, they explore pine forests, contemplate the shape of clouds, follow teenagers and crash their parties, and secretly watch horror films. But this one summer is special for Dune – last year, the family skipped their usual holiday without her knowing why. She feels that something has changed. As childhood becomes a little more distant, she begins to see adults and teenagers differently and understand their secrets.

AI Analysis
This One Summer is a character-driven coming-of-age drama that prioritizes emotional realism and the nuances of family dynamics. It succeeds in providing a meaningful female-centric perspective, using Dune's evolving worldview to explore the complexities of growing up. However, the film lacks explicit intersectional markers. The narrative architecture focuses on individual emotional development and traditional social frameworks rather than disrupting broader identity-based hierarchies or systemic structures. Ultimately, the film functions as a localized, traditional story. While it offers depth in its psychological exploration of childhood, it remains within a conventional Western European social context.
