New Showbiz Analysis

The Dark is a conventional horror film that emphasizes atmospheric tension and familial drama. It follows established genre clichés without attempting to challenge social norms or introduce diverse perspectives. While the film centers on a female protagonist, her role remains tied to traditional maternal archetypes. The setting and narrative focus are narrow, emphasizing a specific familial unit and local folklore. Ultimately, the film lacks significant representation across various identity categories and functions as a typical supernatural thriller.
