Ryuichi Hiroki’s film challenges traditional domestic norms by focusing on a female protagonist who actively pursues her own desires. It successfully subverts the cliché of the passive wife, highlighting her active role in the story. However, the film remains focused on heterosexual relationships and a culturally homogeneous cast. While it explores unconventional sexual practices, it does not address broader racial diversity or LGBTQ+ identities. Overall, the film excels in deconstructing traditional family structures and gender roles, but it does not extend its scope to broader demographic representation.
